The Seva Project: The Soul of Service
Love in Practice
At The Alma Sanctuary, we believe wellness should extend beyond the people who can purchase a ticket, book a retreat, or attend a gathering.
Seva is a Sanskrit word meaning selfless service—service offered without expectation of recognition or return.
The Seva Project is how we put that philosophy into practice.
Through community partnerships, donated experiences, scholarships, and service, we offer the practices at the heart of Alma—movement, meditation, breath, sound, nature, ritual, rest, and meaningful connection—to women and communities who may need them most.
Not as a solution.
Not because we believe wellness can fix everything.
But because everyone deserves moments of care, dignity, beauty, rest, and belonging.
Seva in Practice
✧ Community Partnerships
We partner with local nonprofit and community organizations to create restorative experiences shaped around the people they serve.
That may look like a morning of movement and connection at Alma, a sound bath or meditation brought into an organization's space, or a thoughtfully designed retreat away from everyday life.
Our role is not to arrive assuming what a community needs. We listen first, collaborate with the people already doing the work, and create from there.
✧ Restorative Retreats & Experiences
Sometimes restoration needs more than an hour.
Through The Seva Project, Alma works with community partners to create immersive experiences centered around rest, nature, movement, creativity, ritual, nourishment, and connection.
These experiences are offered with the same intention and attention to detail that we bring to every Alma gathering—because accessibility should never mean an experience is less beautiful, thoughtful, or cared for.
✧ The Restoration Scholarship
Financial circumstances should not determine whether someone has access to meaningful rest and restoration.
The Restoration Scholarship allows us to offer select Alma experiences to women navigating seasons of transition, rebuilding, caregiving, or hardship who may not otherwise be able to attend.

Why We Do It
Seva isn't separate from Alma.
It is part of what Alma is.
We believe there is something powerful about using what is already in our hands—our space, our training, our relationships, our time—to care for the community around us.
Sometimes that means opening the gates of the Sanctuary.
Sometimes it means packing the singing bowls into the car and bringing Alma somewhere else.
Sometimes it means creating an entire weekend where women who spend much of their lives carrying something can, for a little while, be cared for themselves.
We don't believe every meaningful experience needs to become a transaction.
Some things are simply worth offering.
Supported by the Alma Community
When you attend an Alma gathering, book a retreat or private experience, rent our space, or support what we're building, you are also helping make this work possible.
Your participation allows Alma to continue setting aside time, resources, and experiences for community service.
In that way, Seva becomes something larger than any one person.
Care received becomes care extended.
Partner With Us
The most meaningful Seva work begins with relationship.
If you represent a nonprofit, community organization, recovery or transitional program, school, caregiver organization, or other group serving women in our community, we'd love to hear from you.
We are also grateful for practitioners, businesses, and community partners who would like to donate their time, talents, resources, or support to future Seva experiences.
Love in Practice
The Seva Project isn't about changing the world in one sweeping gesture.
It's about noticing where we are, what we have to offer, and who is beside us.
And then choosing to serve.
This is love in practice.
